Genesis 26:12 The purpose of our offering is to place our trust in God, allowing Him to place blessing upon us for that trust. God doesn’t need the gift, but we certainly need to give to Him. A remarkable example of why we can trust God with our gifts is found in today’s verse the tells of Isaac’s successful year as a farmer. However, the preceding verses reveal why Isaac’s success was so significant. You see, Isaac was farming in the middle of a famine. Bumper crops do not take place in a famine. No crops grow in a famine. The famine was so severe, and Isaac’s crop was so great, that he probably was the only farmer with sufficient crops to sell to others.
