"Therefore command that the tomb be made secure until the third day, lest His disciples come by night and steal Him away, and say to the people, ‘He has risen from the dead.’ So the last deception will be worse than the first."

Matthew 27:64

The religious leaders had heard a rumor that Jesus said He would rise on the third day. Of course, they did not believe this, but they did believe that the disciples would come and steal the body and attempt to convince the people that a supernatural act had taken place – the resurrection of Jesus.

Pilate was not willing to assign any Roman soldiers, but he gave permission for temple guards to be placed on watch. Pilate also had an official Roman wax seal applied to intimidate any tomb invasion. So there you have it, soldiers with weapons and a high officiating seal to intimidate potential poachers.

This is how the devil works against the saints of God. He assigns his fallen angels to stand guard and threaten anyone who might attempt to bring a miracle to your life.

The devil does not want you to believe that you have any hope of rising up out of your situation.

He wants to try to prevent your miracle, your visitation, your breakthrough. But no weapon formed against you shall prosper. You are destined for greatness. God can invade your tomb of darkness and resurrect you for victory.

“The greatest obstacle can become your stepping stone.”
