Crossfire Weekly Newsletter - June 30, 2020FORGET THE PAST, LOOK AHEAD

by Gabriel Swaggart

The Christian life should be one of constant growth.  Paul was one of the godliest men who has ever lived.  However, he believed that he had yet to reach that point of total spiritual maturity, even though we might look at the apostle’s life and think otherwise.  Yet, how many believers feel that they have reached their spiritual apex?  How many believe that there is nothing more to learn?  In reality, not a single one of us can ever say that we have reached the height of Christianity.  We are all still in need of change.

Sanctification is a work of the Holy Spirit where we are continually being changed.  It is both an instantaneous and progressive work.  It began at the moment of salvation and continues throughout our lives.  However, there is a danger ever lurking around the corner, and just when we think we have seen and done it all, we fall into the trap of lethargy.  We let our guard down, the enemy pounces, and failure happens.  We are crushed, devastated, hurt, and shocked.  How could this have happened?
