June 28: Religion or Relationship

"But you do not have His word abiding in you, because whom He sent, Him you do not believe. You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life."
John 5:38-40

Jesus loves everyone, and He ministered His love to all those He came into contact with when He was on the earth. The root of religion in the Pharisees had no time for Jesus. The teachers of the law were convinced that they were right and Jesus was wrong because He did not fit their religious order.
One day, during a heated discussion with some of the religious leaders, Jesus told them to “search the scriptures”.
It is too easy to preach about Jesus and not preach Jesus. He is a subject matter, not a matter of subject.
God is calling the church to come back to the Word. The question could be asked: “Who do the men where you work, where you live, where you go to church say that the Son of man is”? Jesus is not a religion; He is a relationship. You cannot find Jesus in a system of religion. You need to meet Him in person. Do it today.
