Crossfire Weekly Newsletter - July 28, 2020: THIS IS THAT

The Bible gives us the account of the Holy Spirit descending upon the original church around two thousand years ago, how it impacted those who were there, and how they turned the world of that day right side up for the cause of Christ.  First of all, let me address this:  The Holy Spirit has always been, because He is God.  He did not arrive for the first time on that day of Pentecost, but rather, He came in a new dimension that was never before known until that time.

Before His ascension into heaven, Christ had given the command “that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father” (Acts 1:4).  Along with nearly 120 others, Peter was in the temple courtyard early that morning, seeking the Father regarding what Christ had told them.  Little did they know that what was about to happen would change the landscape of Christianity forever.

Suddenly, a phenomenon swept through that temple courtyard, with the 120 speaking in a somewhat strange language.  Some who gathered to watch the events unfold went as far as to mock what was transpiring and claimed that these men were drunk.  However, Peter, being filled with Holy
