Miracles Before Our Eyes | IFCJ: The Jewish people and the Jewish state are living testimony to God’s existence.
The LORD will scatter you among the peoples, and only a few of you will survive among the nations to which the LORD will drive you. — Deuteronomy 4:27
Each week in synagogue, Jews read through the Torah from Genesis to Deuteronomy. The Torah portion for this week is Va’etchanan, which means “I pleaded,” from Deuteronomy 3:23–7:11.
Sometimes I am asked how the Jewish people have held onto their faith after all that has befallen them — when you consider the persecutions, the exiles and dispersions, the pogroms, and yes, even the Holocaust. How have the Jewish people experienced all this and yet survived as a people of faith? My answer is that all I have to do is look out my window. |
