December 31: Forgetting the Past

" Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead."

Philippians 3:13

Tomorrow will be the first day of a new year. Reflecting on the past is natural, but living in the past is not.

Paul said he was “forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead.” It is time to close the door on the hurts and failures of this year.

So many Christians get the “new year’s blues” because they reflect on what they did not get accomplished or what did not come to pass.

Paul said he was reaching forward with the same determination of a runner reaching for the tape at the finish line. Like Paul, don’t lose the race by looking back. Look forward, and when the New Year begins, know that God is bringing you into a new season of your destiny. Reach forward, cross the finish line, and experience the joy of winning!

“Congratulations, you made it – Happy New Year!"
