He Comes to Your House

Oct 24, 2021

Today’s Scripture

Luke 19:9–10, NIV
Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost."

Today’s Word

In Luke 19, a despised tax collector named Zacchaeus had heard how Jesus healed the sick and opened blind eyes. When Jesus stopped in the crowded street to speak to him, time stopped for Zacchaeus. He expected Jesus to condemn him for his dishonesty and cheating as a tax collector, but Jesus said, "Zacchaeus, I want to go to your house and have dinner." When Zacchaeus heard those words, something inside said "He loves you." Jesus could have gone to dinner with any of the local rabbis, but He was making this point: You don't have to first clean yourself up for salvation to come to you. You don't have to have it all together for God to love you. If that were the case, none of us has a chance.

Your performance doesn't determine God's love for you. Are you going to let condemning voices convince you that you have to earn your salvation? Shake that off and say by faith, "Lord, despite my failures, despite my mistakes, I believe You love me."

Prayer for Today

Father, thank You that even though You know everything about me, You still invite Yourself to come to my house for dinner and bring the gift of salvation. Thank You that it's not about my performance, but it's about Your love. Welcome to my house. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
