February 10: Don't Doubt

“And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?"

Matthew 14:31

Jesus says to Peter, You came out of the boat and began your journey, and you got this far, so why did you doubt after coming so far? Your faith has brought you part way; for what reason are you doubting me now? Peter did walk on the water. What a great accomplishment.

In the midst of the storm of his life when he took his eyes off of Jesus and began to look at the storm, the winds and the waves, he wavered in his faith and began to doubt. Jesus didn’t say, “Peter, you have no faith.” He said, “You are a man of little faith.” I believe Jesus was implying that Peter needed to continue to grow and strengthen his faith.

Peter needed to keep his focus when he was tested by the storms of life. His greatest trial was getting through Jesus’ death. It is evident in the Book of Acts that Peter went through his share of testing and trials.

As Peter grew, so did his faith; and he was able to fulfill the commission that Christ gave him. Though the trials and storms of life may come against you, keep your eyes fixed on Jesus and you will make it through them all.

Faith overcomes doubt!
