Proverbios 25:18 Martillo y cuchillo y saeta aguda Es el hombre que habla contra su prójimo falso testimonio. | Biblia Reina Valera 1960 (RVR1960) | Pakua Programu ya Biblia Sasa 31 DAYS OF WISDOM OF GOD PROVERBS 25;18 31 DAYS OF WISDOM OF GOD 31 DAYS OF WISDOM OF GOD Proverbs 25;18 AS WE ENTER INTO THIS verse, I want to remember when Moses was at Mount Sinai where he spent forty days and forty nights in the presence of God. It was during this meeting that God gave Moses the entirety of the law, including the Ten Commandments. One of those commandments was, “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor” (Exodus 20:16). This means that you are not to lie against another person or lie in general. Lying against someone could cause tremendous damage to a person’s character. The Holy Spirit, once again, commands us not to lie against our neighbor. He who bears false witness against his neighbor prepares himself for his deadly wiles. As the Pulpit commentary says, “There is a kind of climax to the three offensive weapons called clubbing, the sword inflicting wounds, the sword depriving life.” You must understand that your words are neither meant to uplift nor to tear down. Tearing the tongue has the power to not only ruin someone’s life, but also their life and the lives of their families who are near and dear to them. It is a dangerous thing for someone to do no matter who they are. Listen to what happens with the tongue: “So also the tongue is a little bigger that boasts great things. See how great is the matter it kindles! And the tongue is a fire, a world of unique things. The tongue is among our members, defiling the body and inflaming the course of creation; and it is from hell. For every kind of beast, and of birds, and of dwarfs, and things of the sea, is tamed, and has been of mankind. But no man can tame the tongue; it is an evil full of deadly poison” (James 3:5-8). Many of us have been victims of some form of unfaithfulness toward us, so why would we retaliate? Proverbs 25;18 wear them down. There is only pain when someone is discredited, and it can cause the loss of a friend or family member. Such a person never changes unless they repeat and ask the Lord to help them. That is the only way for a person to stop being disloyal. to lie against another. Once a person looks to Christ and the cross, this allows the Holy Spirit to work in his or her life, which can bring about the change that is needed. RUBEN REFLECTIONS: 109
