GS Newsletter - Tuesday May31st,  MISCONCEPTIONS OF THE CROSS OF CHRIST - PART II by Gabriel Swaggart   “ AND HE SAID TO   them all, If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me ”  (Luke. 9:23). BEARING OUR CROSS MEANS SUFFERING FOR CHRIST The second misconception of the Cross is found in the idea of suffering.  Satan has done a very good job of causing believers to have a total misunderstanding of the words of Christ when He said, “If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily.” Many have taken this Scripture to mean that taking up the Cross refers to suffering.  They believe that to follow the command of Christ of taking up the Cross entails much suffering and agony.  It doesn’t mean that.  Not in the slightest does it refer to our suffering. Yes, Christ suffered such extreme pain and such extreme agony that we do not have the proper vocabulary to describe the amount of pain that was inflicted upon

We don’t like to be in this state, but it is the condition out of which God builds masterpieces. We want full; God desires empty. Being weak is sometimes depicted as something painful or unpleasant. But pain can become a conduit for power. I eventually discovered that what was meant to destroy us can actually be used to make us strong and whole. What was supposed to be a stumbling block in our life can become a steppingstone. You may be saying, “Paula, what good can possibly come out of my situation? How can God take my mess and get any glory?” It is interesting to me that tra

The  Torah  portion for this week is  Bechukotai , which means “My decrees,” from Leviticus 26:3–27:34. Once, when I was a child, I was misbehaving, acting out and speaking inappropriately to my parents. My father told me to stop misbehaving once, twice, a third time. Nevertheless, I kept doing what I was doing, ignoring my father’s gentle reprimand. My father sensed that I was completely ignoring him and yelled at me. I was terrified. My father didn’t get angry with me very often and rarely expressed it the way that he did on that day. I ran to my room in tears. I remember thinking that I had permanently harmed our relationship. I mean, look how angry he was! A few moments later, I heard my father’s footste

Today's Word | Joel Osteen Ministries

Today's Word | Joel Osteen  Be Humble May 19, 2022 Today’s Scripture 1 Peter 5:5, NIV All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, "God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble." Today’s Word In Daniel 4, King Nebuchadnezzar looked out over his magnificent city and said, "Is not this the great Babylon I have built as the royal residence, by my mighty power and for the glory of my majesty?" His attitude was, "Look at me. It is my power, my might, my majesty." The problem is that we aren't created to take the glory; we're created to give God the glory. God will show you His favor as long as you're letting His glory flow through you up to Him. But the moment you start keeping the glory, it will leave, which is exactly what happened to Nebuchadnezzar. Be careful to give God the glory for your accomplishments. God opposes the proud. Always be humble and say, "God, it was Your goodness that got me to where

The Power and Provision of Pentecost - City of Destiny

The Power and Provision of Pentecost - City of  May 19: True Freedom “ And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." John 8:32 During the first few years of my Christian walk, I made some of the biggest mistakes of my life. I found out that old habits die hard, like manipulation, control games, and well-worn ways of thinking that had been deeply ingrained in me from the past. I struggled with the tension between my head and my heart. Something was new and different on the inside, but the outward behavior did not always project this change. I was experiencing something different alright; my behavior and my actions did not feel right. It is called conviction. I was unable to recognize that the source of my discomfort was the Holy Spirit. He was trying to guide me and instinct me. John 8:32 The Holy Spirit began to reveal to me things about myself, giving me the understanding I needed to produce permanent change in my life. I began to diligently apply myself to th

An intercessor is someone who knows what God wants and they see “what is” and they stand in prayer as a bridge between the two. That’s what it means to stand in the gap! Since we are a kingdom of priests, that means we are all called to do this! Today, when God shows you something “that is”, but isn’t in the seen realm yet, stand in the gap in prayer until what God wants comes to pass in the seen realm!

Three years ago, when my father, Fellowship Founder Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein, suddenly passed away and I was cast into the leadership role of The Fellowship, I have to tell you, I was scared. When you pour water into a cup, you stop when the cup is full. You're limited by the cup's size. But God says, "When I pour out a blessing, I'm not limited by your capacity to receive." Our dreams and our cup of faith may be small. If God only blessed us according to how much we believe, we would be limited. If it was just up to us, we would never experience God's promise: "Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think." But God is so good, He says, "Even when you have a little cup of faith, that's not going to stop Me from the big blessing I have in store." Get ready. He's not going to stop pouring at the top of your cup. He's going to give you a running-over blessing. He will bless you way be
