Watch Tony Evans Message - Are You Listening?

Watch Tony Evans Message - Are You Listening Why Couldn’t Mary Touch Jesus? Purity and Priesthood In order to understand Jesus’ very different instructions to Mary and Thomas, we need to understand the purity requirements for the Jewish High Priest on the Day of Atonement. The High Priest was forbidden to come into contact with anything that was ceremonially unclean in order to avoid being disqualified to enter God’s presence the following day. So much depended on this ritual purity! After His resurrection, Jesus (as our ultimate High Priest) would shortly be ministering in the heavenly tabernacle (Heb 9:11). It is significant that Jesus appeared to the disciples and told Thomas to touch him after eight days, because it takes seven days to ordain a priest (Exod 29:35). Jesus and the Heavenly Tabernacle The most-likely reason for Jesus’ instructions to Mary had to do with the fact that He was determined to enter the heavenly tabernacle in a ready-to-serve, consecrated state. The  Torah  portion for this week is  Beshalach , which means “when he sent them away,” from Exodus 13:17–17:16. There is a Jewish tale about a merchant named Yankel who carried his wares from town to town. One day, as a horse drawn wagon passed by Yankel, the owner recognized him and offered him a ride. Yankel gratefully accepted the offer, but a few moments later, the wagon-owner noticed that Yankel was still carrying his burden on his shoulders.   “Yankel,” he said, “why don’t you put your bags down?” “Oh, it’s all right,” Yankel replied. “I don’t want to be any trouble.” “Yankel, you fool!” the own

Charles Stanley (January-29-2024) Daily Devotional: Feasting As  January 29: His Presence "God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us." 2 Corinthians 1:3,4 These are tough times. Whatever your beliefs and your politics, it has been a brutal time all around the world. In the face of difficulties like these, our answer as Christians is the same as it’s always been—the presence of God. God is the God of compassion, who comforts us in our troubles so that we can comfort others. His presence, through the Holy Spirit, is our greatest resource. I can’t even tell you how many countless times I have been comforted by God’s Word. It is the most stable, consistent thing in my world, and even when heaven and earth pass away, the Word of the Lord will remain forever (Luke 21:33). Listen to how God describes the Bible: “For

Daily Devotional (January-26-2024) THE NEW LIFE IN  Daily Devotional (January-26-2024) THE NEW LIFE IN CHRIST. Scripture Reference: 1 Corinthians 3:1-8 - “And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men? For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal? Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man? I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase. Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.

Charles Stanley (January-24-2024) Daily Devotional: The Power of Love

Charles Stanley (January-24-2024) Daily Devotional: The Power of  January 24: Activate Your Faith "And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him." Hebrews 11:6 God wants you to dream! He wants you to set goals. He wants you to choose to believe that all things are possible to those who believe. God wants you to write out the plan, write out the vision, and make it plain (Habakkuk 2:2). Then take it to God and ask Him to bless it. Ask Him if there are any course corrections. Remember, everything goes back to our relationship with God—seeking Him and aligning our life with His Word and His will. It’s about keeping first things first. God’s already given you everything you need to fulfill the plan, to make the vision a reality, and to become prosperous. You may not tangibly be able to put all the pieces of the puzzle together yet; however, when you’re ready for those

Bill Winston (January-22-2024) Weekly Devotional: The Way to  January 23: God wants you to dream "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11 When asked about plans for the future, some Christians give super-spiritual answers like, “I’m just trusting the Lord,” or “I’ll do whatever God wants me to do.” While these responses may win you accolades in some circles, they are actually excuses that hinder us rather than propel us. Instead of taking responsibility for our lives, our gifts, and our talents, we put the responsibility on God. Successfully planning your future requires thought, time, prayer, research, and diligence. Trusting God is a part of the process, but it’s not the whole thing. The first mindset shift is believing that making a plan and trusting God work together, not independently. Because Jeremiah 29:11 says that God knows the plans He has for us, we thin

Day 22: How Long, O Lord? (Psalm 13:1-6, Matthew 15:10-39, Genesis 43:1-44:34)

Day 22: How Long, O Lord? (Psalm 13:1-6, Matthew 15:10-39, Genesis 43:1-44:34) : Psalm 13:1-6 For the director of music. A psalm of David.   1 How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever?    How long will you hide your face from me?   2 How long must I wrestle with my thoughts    and day after day have sorrow in my heart?    How long will my enemy triumph over me?   3 Look on me and answer, Lord my God.    Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death,   4 and my enemy will say, “I have overcome him, ”    and my foes will rejoice when I fall.   5 But I trust in your unfailing love;    my heart rejoices in your salvation.   6 I will sing the Lord’s praise,    for he has been good to me. Commentary Keep going David’s example suggests four things that you should continue to do during difficult times: Keep praying David continues to cry out to God, ‘Look on me and answer, O Lord my God. Give light to my eyes’ (v.3). He pours out his heart to God. Don’t give up praying even

Watch Tony Evans Sunday Sermon - Investing for Our Time in  January 12: Honor Him "And you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day." Deuteronomy 8:18 God loves you. He is for you. It’s not His desire or grandiose plan that you live in hardship or struggle financially. God gives us the power to get wealth. According to Strong’s Hebrew and Chaldee Dictionary of the Old Testament, wealth is so much more than merely money. It is translatedfromtheHebrewword,ַ חִיל Chayil, meaning“aforce, whether of men, means or other resources; an army, wealth, virtue, valor, strength:—able, activity.” When you remember the Lord your God and honor Him, He will make you to be “a force.” In other words, God will give you the wisdom and strategies you need to be an influence for His kingdom on the earth and to overcome the enemy. Remember, you already have God’s protection. A

Tony Evans Sermon - Growing in Your Walk Means Changing

Tony Evans Sermon - Growing in Your Walk Means  January 11: Exceeding Expectations "And Jesus took the loaves, and when He had given thanks He distributed them to the disciples, and the disciples to those sitting down; and likewise of the fish, as much as they wanted." John 6:11 Before Jesus distributed the loaves and fish, He paused to give thanks. This act of gratitude was not a mere ritual; it was a declaration of faith and expectation. Jesus knew that in the kingdom of God, thanksgiving is the precursor to multiplication. Imagine the scene: a multitude of hungry souls, a meager offering of two fish and five barley loaves, and Jesus, the Miracle Worker, in their midst. He lifted those loaves to heaven, blessed them with a heart full of gratitude, and began to distribute them to His disciples. What happened next was beyond comprehension. The loaves multiplied, satisfying the hunger of thousands. It was a divine display of God’s provision, sparked by Jesus’ unwavering faith

Image
Daily Devotional (January-10-2024) THE MELCHIZEDEK  January 10: Increase like Jesus "And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men." Luke 2:52 Jesus is our role model. He’s the firstfruit of many brethren, which means He governs everything that we are entitled to. This is why Jesus said that we would do not only the works that He did but greater works. He’s the firstfruit. He set the pattern. He created the mold. Therefore, everything you see in our elder brother, Jesus, you have access to it. If Jesus did it, you can do it. If Jesus has it, you can have it. The pattern set for us is that Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man. According to Strong’s Greek Dictionary, the word increased in Greek is προκόπτω prokopto. It means, “to drive forward (as if by beating), i.e. (figuratively and intransitively) to advance (in amount, to grow; in time, to be well along): — increase, proceed, profit, be far spent, wax.” Do you want to
